Planning

Our director gave us free range for this project. He allowed us to choose a song of our liking, pair up in groups of two and record at least 10 cues. My partner and I chose World burn from Mean Girls the Musical. Immediately after listening to the track a few times I had ideas for the start of the song. I wanted. the pulsing to happen on the beats of the song and I wanted Regina George to be highlighted throughout the entire song.

Learning Process

Because we were very limited on time and we only had one light board our director had us download EOS software so that way we can work when we weren't in class. This was one of my biggest challenges because the program was very technical. The way that I tackled this issue was to search up what I didn't know on youtube and use a dummy file to experiment what each key would do.

Whenever it came to apply every design it was a struggle. I had to download the file and apply it on the board. Whenever my partner wanted to work on it I had to send her the most recently downloaded and updated file. We struggled when it came to the chases because we had a specific vision. However, our board and our knowledge was very limited and we couldn't convey our design to its fullest potential. I really wish that I could find a way to sync the pulsing to the song. If I had the resources I would have added moving lights to my design. I also didn't like how we added one idle area light for Regina George. I also realized the day that we had applied everything to the board for the last time some of my chases were altered and some of my cues had the wrong timings.

End Product

I was very impressed on the outcome especially with the time that we were given to complete the project. The only adjustment that I would make if I were to do this again is work harder on making the template even on all sides and angles. I really wish that the template looked more like a flower rather than a star. If I was given more time I would have also sewn on some small beads just like on my design. I think overall I am proud of the outcome and learned what else is possible in costumes.
